Travelling on the Cheap.
To a true traveller, it’s an art form. Discovering how to make that dollar act like 2 is a secret kept away from the eyes of the average tourist. Finding your way to the “local level” takes experience, research, and maybe a good guide. So we often end up learning the hard way. We pay triple fare for a cab from the airport. We forget to haggle at markets. We buy local delicacies at restaurants, when it’s better and cheaper on the street.
But what if you could watch a video?
My City Lives is a godsend for both Tourists and Torontonians. If you check out their site you’ll find a collection of location tagged videos explaining the best places to see, save and eat in the city of Toronto.
Here’s a vid of what they’re all about:
Just a few weeks ago their “Save in the City” Contest launched. If you’re Toronto based, and think you have the inside scoop on how to save a few $$$, you’ve got the chance to win one of 4 prizes.
The Deets:
- Videos must be posted on My City Lives by April 12th 2012
- Videos must be tagged “saveinthecity”
- 4 Winners will be selected
- Winners get an iPad 2 or $2500 donated to a Canadian Charity of their choice.
- The rest of the T&C’s can be found Here
Check out some entries on their site. If you’re interested, but looking for an idea… Nowhere else on god’s green earth have I been able to get from the airport to downtown for only $3. It’s foolishly cheap, and would be a good thing to consider making a video about.
